With the new project “Hop-on” (Help for orientation in the professional system – online for newcomers) we are developing an interactive information platform. It addresses adult newcomers who want to build upon their previous professional skills and experiences.
In order to provide help for orientation in the professional German system for newcomers, Hop-on combines different sources and media as an open infrastructure (see also https://projekte.hoou.de/p/2016/04/28/entwicklung-einer-offenen-technischen-infrastruktur-fuer-hoou-lernarrangements-an-der-tuhh/ ):
In a group on facebook adult newcomers and everyone interested can ask their questions about the professional system in Germany (e.g. certificates, ways, possibilities, rules, laws) and exchange information and experiences. Members can communicate in German, English, Arabic and Persian.
Frequently asked questions on facebook are collected for the gitbook, an extendable digital book that can be printed, saved and adapted to individual needs and contexts. It contains basic information about topics related to the German professional system.
Furthermore, a questionnaire will be provided by which users can create their personal roadmap(s) to a recognized German vocational certificate based on their current residence status and professional experiences. This roadmap is focused on the German vocational training system. Questions about school trainings, due to legal (federal) restrictions regarding access and duration, will be answered differently.
Hop-on wants to include personal perspectives on the topic of professional training. That is why two videos will be produced with stories by adults who decided to catch upon a vocational certificate.
